My thoughts on "Patay na si Hesus"First of all, I do not claim to be an expert movie critic so spare me the negative criticisms :) Anyway, I recently watched this bizarre movie entitled Patay na si Hesus and my hands just itch to write something about it. You’ll know why as you continue to read this post :) By the way, Patay na si Hesus is just one of the twelve movies shown for the Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino this year. If you aren’t familiar with this festivity, Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino is a nationwide week-long celebration where all movie theaters exclusively screens Filipino films in line with the Buwan ng Wika. This festive event is organized by the Film Development Council of the Philippines in partnership with theaters nationwide and will run from August 16-22, 2017. Which means, you only have until tomorrow to watch these amazing movies in theaters. Going back, here are my 8 thoughts on Patay na si Hesus: 1. This has got to be one of the most realistic movies I ever watched in my entire life. The script, the delivery of each actor’s lines, the whereabouts of each characters, the series of events; be it unfortunate or not, and the acting were just so effin natural! This is even more realistic than the daily life vlogs you watch on YouTube. 2. I feel like a number of non-bisaya speakers may not get the full pleasure of the movie’s humor. I’m not saying that they won't be able to comprehend the jokes incorporated in this movie, as I’ve already seen a number of comments and reviews from the Tagalogs who actually laughed out loud because of Patay na si Hesus. Language differences is not even an issue as well. It’s just that the humor itself and the delivery is just a BISAYA thing, if you know what I mean. 3. Speaking of jokes, majority of them involve profane languages about sex. Thus, if you are easily offended by these types of jokes, you may want to steer clear from this movie. Oh, and since I already mentioned that this movie is filled with dirty jokes, you should know by now that this movie isn’t about anything religious :) 4. Two most remarkable characters for me? That would definitely be the crazy and at the same time scary nun, Sister Linda and of course, Hudas!! the family’s baby shih tzu dog. Why Hudas? Why?? :( - high five to those who already watched this movie and get what I mean. 5. I feel like this movie isn’t supposed to be classified as R-13 but maybe R-16 or higher? :) Again, I'm no expert in movie classification but that bathroom scene of Jay still bothers me up to this writing (-_-) 6. Thumbs up for the aerial shots of the beautiful places and beaches of Cebu during the family’s travel to Dumaguete. 7. The subtitles, though. Some of them are inaccurate. I should've remembered one line to at least be credible to write this comment but yah, I believe some of you would definitely agree on my observation. 8. Last but definitely not the least, here’s a virtual slow clap for all the actors of this movie. Chai, Melde, Vincent, Mailes, and of course the great Jacklyn Jose all did an exemplary acting job! The effortless yet very effective acting of Jacklyn Jose did not fail to make me laugh and tear up at the same time :) Overall, I highly recommend that you watch this movie especially that you only have until tomorrow to watch it. Brave and extraordinary films like this should be given a good credit. Sa mga bisaya og dili bisaya diha, dali na, tan-aw na! :) Look, even the well loved dog, Hudas is inviting you to watch Patay na si Hesus and the rest of the gawang Pinoy films! :)
