It's officially the Summer Time here in the Philippines and most of us Pinoys go out and enjoy the existence of Mr. Sun. This season may be enjoyable and favorable for most of us humans but it's the opposite for our fur babies if they aren't well taken cared of. As a fur mom myself to Hachiko, here are the top 3 tips I would like to share to have a happy Summer time with your baby dog/s. Photo credit: Google Image brooklyncattitude.com 1. SUPPLY YOUR DOG/S A GOOD AMOUNT OF WATER Shall I say, keep your dog/s hydrated! This is a no brainer tip actually but a lot of dog owners still fail to do this. Just like humans, our dogs need to be hydrated. If you find yourself complaining because of extreme heat and humidity, your dogs feel the same. Thus, make sure that your dog's water bowl is filled with water. Have the time and patience to check your babie's bowl from time to time. It would actually be better if it's a cool water. My Hachiko always wants his water cold :) Photo credit: Google Image wikihow.com 2. WALK YOUR DOG/S EARLY IN THE MORNING OR LATE AFTERNOON This is to avoid burned paws. If your only free time is during the afternoon when the sun's heat is at its extreme, make sure to walk on shaded areas. Photo credit: Google Image thedogtrainingsecret.com 3. ALWAYS MAKE SURE TO KEEP YOUR DOG COOL No genuine dog lover and fur parent would want their dogs suffer from heat stroke. So you better be innovative in finding ways to cool your dog. Listed below are the things you SHOULD and CAN do: **Never ever leave them in a place where they will have a direct contact with the sunlight. If your dogs have to be outside your house for some valid reasons, make sure to have a shaded area for them to stay and rest. So it would help a lot if you focus on those body parts mentioned. You may also lay a wet towel on the floor/ground for your dog to lie on. For my dog Hachiko, he always stays in our Bathroom on hot humid days as he finds it cooler in that place. It also helps him cool down whenever I give him ice cubes to lick and chew :) Photo credit: Google Image pinterest.com **Set up a kiddie pool for your dog to swim :) Just make sure that you set up the pool in a shaded place. I haven't done this for Hachi yet just because we don't have the space to do this. Perhaps we can do this soon :) Photo credit: Google Image petsmart.com **Last but definitely not the least, NEVER LEAVE YOUR DOG IN A CLOSED PARKED CAR, PLEASE! Just like you, your dog needs an access to a natural, fresh air. If it is POSSIBLE for you to DIE when left inside a closed parked car for hours, well guess what? your dog will definitely experience the same. So please.
