The name of my site says it all. Well, not ALL- but it may already give you a hint that the owner of this blog loves dogs. Let me just quickly share to you why I named this site Purple Canine. It's a no brainer explanation, actually. First, I love purple, lavender, and any shades of violet. Second, I love dogs, I REALLY do. Simple, right? :) Now, let me share to you my "Dog Story" and introduce to you my dog, Hachiko. Are you interested? Read on.. :) Above image is a picture of my late dog, Lassy and my spoiled dog, Hachiko. Lassy is a dog with an owner but not really taken cared of. I adopted her last August of 2014 though prior her adoption, I have already been taking good care of her. I had only one wish during my 25th birthday and that's for me to be her fur Mommy. Now guess what? My wish was granted! However, a little over a month after I finally got her, she had to cross the rainbow bridge. She was diagnosed to have a number of infection and a problem with her brain (that brain problem made her blind in a matter of hours). It was devastating to see her suffer and it was so painful to think that I was not able to give her a long happy life that she deserves- that ALL dogs deserve. Lassy's story is just one of the many stories of used, abused, and neglected dogs who are hoping for a better life. Image above shows you the names of my dogs since childhood. I started to learn about life with a dog as my companion and maybe that is one of the reasons why I love them. Each of my dogs whose name appears above have different stories to tell, and most of them are sad. Some of my dogs experienced a terrible ending without my knowledge (I was only informed now). I was a child back then, I only knew a few and I can only do so much. Now that I am capable of making my own decision and earning my own money, I am doing my best to help all dogs in need by giving them food, warm touch, and love. I am still not able to keep all the stray dogs at home but someday, SOON, I will be having my own little shelter. For now, I am only allowed to keep one dog at home and that is...drum roll... HACHIKO! :) Meet Hachiko, the uber cute dog! After relocating here in Cebu and after more than 10 yrs of not having a dog, I was once again given the chance to have a companion. Hachiko was born on December 18, 2012 and has been with me and my family since he was a month old. Hachiko was given to me by my uncle and If I am not mistaken, he is a mixture of Maltese and Shih Tzu. I call him "Hachi", by the way. Isn't he adorable on that picture? :) Hachiko is not the typical obedient and "love to cuddle" dog. He is a spoiled brat. He does things his way and if he is not in the mood, prepare your self for a bite. Yes, he bites us and it's painful. Though it's not the "attack mode" bite, it's still painful. Biting is also one of his ways to show his love and excitement. Cool, isn't it? haha. Sweeping the floor is prohibited while he is still eating his meal as he is going to be really mad. Also, Sunday is the day that Hachiko hates the most. Why? BECAUSE IT'S BATH TIME! There are two things I need every time I have to bathe him, first is patience and second is time- a time long enough for me to execute my plan in deceiving him to go near me so I can carry him to our Comfort Room. Though Hachi can be stubborn at times, he also has his sweet side. He knows it when someone in the family is not feeling well and he acts his best towards that person. He would also try to help us do our house hold chores but the result is not really that pleasant :). For example, whenever we do general cleaning at home, he tries to help in moving the chair by pushing the chair using his snout but blocking the way of the person who is doing the task. Thus, he failed to help. He also tries to segregate the things that we use from the things we already consider as trash. However, he sees these things as toys so he would end up biting and playing them. Again, he failed to help :) I love Hachiko, I love ALL kinds of dogs. Whenever I feel stressed and depressed from seeing the cruelty happening in this world, a hug with Hachi helps a lot. To end this post, I would like to ask every single individual reading this to please ACT as a HUMAN. Do the NORM and be KIND to all living things in this world. -JEN- Like my FB page here to be updated on my lates blog posts. |
