Hello there, readers! Kamusta naman ang summer niyo? :) or shall I ask, kamusta naman ang makeup nyo ngayong summer? plakado pa ba o hulas na? haha. Today, I'll be sharing my thoughts on a makeup tool perfect in applying our makeup base this summer season, I'm talking about a makeup sponge. Oftentimes, we find ourselves reaching out to a damped sponge to perfectly and "thinly" blend our foundation. So, will this Daiso sponge serve its purpose? :) Forgive the purple sponge if it's dirty. I just used it and haven't washed it yet ;) PRIZE, WHERE TO GET, AND PACKAGING Well, this is named as a Daiso sponge so you can basically just grab this from a Daiso store near you :) If you guys aren't familiar with Daiso, you're missing a lot my friend, haha. Daiso is a store where a variety of Japan goodies are sold at a very affordable price from Php 88 to Php 100++. They've got almost everything for you :) As for the packaging, the sponge is housed in a typical soft but thick plastic container, nothing special, actually :) At the back you'll see how to use the sponge properly. SHAPE AND TEXTURE I initially just wanted to buy one to try but since it's just sold for Php 88, I decided to get two *clears throat, reasons* :) What I have here is the typical tear drop sponge which resembles the look of the famous Beauty Blender and the one that is shaped like that of a Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge. Now, most makeup enthusiast would ask, "do they expand?" "are they soft?" - Yes, these Daiso makeup sponges expand, as in malaki ang itataba nung sponge 'pag basa :) They're not too soft like my current favorite Real Techniques Sponge, but they're soft enough not to hurt and bruise your face :) you know what I mean, right? Oh! not to mention, they're bouncy too :) Dry vs. Wet- I told you, ang laki ng itinaba nung sponge nung nabasa na :) FINAL THOUGHTS
Overall, this sponge performs well in blending my liquid foundation, BB cream, and cream concealer. The only downside I see with this Daiso sponge is that it absorbs a little too much of the product which isn't really economical. PRO/S: 1. Blends makeup well 2. No color bleeding after the first wash 3. Soft and bouncy enough to perform the stippling motion with ease 4. Affordable :) CON/S 1. Read and watched a few reviews which claimed that the sponge feels hard. Therefore, texture MAY be inconsistent. 2. Absorbs a little too much of liquid based foundation and concealer. Will I repurchase? Yes, but not now since I still have a Real Techniques and a Miine sponge to use :) I'm actually excited to try the latter since it has been recommended by a beauty content creator on YouTube, Phoebe Ortiz :) -JEN- |
