Hello, dear readers! :) It’s been a while since I posted a beauty review on my blog. I’m just so good at being consistently MIA, apologies for that. Though I have not been active on my blog lately, my love and enthusiasm for makeup is still here, so don't worry haha. A couple of weeks ago, Anne Clutz posted an affordable makeup haul on her YouTube channel and this specific brow product from Nichido caught my attention. You’ll know why below :)
PRIZE, WHERE TO GET, AND PACKAGING
This Nichido Acti Brow Tri-Tip Eyebrow Marker is priced at Php 238 but I got mine on sale for Php 119 in Metro Colon. Nichido counters are available in all leading department stores and selected Watsons stores nationwide. By the way, I picked the shade Warm Latte. As for the packaging, it looks like a regular pen type eyeliner. What’s interesting about this eyebrow marker is its tri-tip applicator which can help you draw artificial brow strands. This feature actually made me buy this product. You see, I’m one of those unfortunate ladies out there who has thin and sparse eyebrows so I thought this is just perfect for my kilay :)
CONSISTENCY AND SCENT
I failed to see this eyebrow marker's consistency when I swatched it in the mall since most of their testers are already dried out. So when I got home, I immediately swatched it at the back of my hand and I can tell right off the bat that it's a little too wet and has the tendency to spread unevenly. Teka, itagalog ko nalang para mas ma explain ko maigi, alam nyo yong pag nagswatch ka ng eyeliner na supposedly thin line lang pero biglang kumakalat at nagiging mataba ung line? Haha hirap..pero sana na gets nyo :) As for the scent, you won’t be able to smell anything when you open its cap unless you intentionally smell its tri-tip applicator. If you ever do, the smell is like that of a monggol pencil.
SWATCHES
By the way, this Nichido Eyebrow Marker dries fast and is smudge proof. See the video I posted on my Facebook Page below:
I also sprayed some water to see if it's still smudge proof even when it's already wet :)
HOW I USED IT
Now the struggle is real right here. I never thought it’s going to be difficult to use this Nichido eyebrow marker effectively. I mentioned earlier that the product dries fast so you really have to be careful on your application since it’s a little difficult to correct your mistake.
Here's my oh so bare brows :)
What I did here was apply it with a very light hand. I tried so hard not to re-draw lines on those areas where I already drew fake brow strands as it will really look harsh. And since it has a tri-tip applicator, it’s a challenge to apply some of the product on the tail part of the brows where it’s supposed to be thinly pointed and precise.
To fix the harsh lines the marker gave to my brows, I used my favorite Marionnaud dual ended angled brush and spoolie to quickly blend the product in.
Here's how it looked like after blending . This looks okay if you're going for a natural barely there eyebrow makeup look.
For me, however, this product isn't enough to achieve that #kilaygoal. I can only use it to fill in the sparse area of my brows and I have to use a brow pencil on top of it and in the tail part of the brows for a more precise looking brows. The result is the image above.
I did try to use this Nichido Acti Brow Tri-Tip Eyebrow Marker several times for me to learn the proper technique in using it but I still failed.
PROS
1. Its tri-tip applicator is good in creating fake eyebrow hairs. Note that you have to apply it with a very light hand 2. Smudge proof 3. Water proof unless you intentionally rub the product off when it gets wet :) CONS 1. A little expensive for what it can do 2. Doesn’t last for 24 hrs especially if you have an oily skin on your eyebrow area 3. Can’t be used alone to achieve a good looking brow (at least for me) Would I re-purchase? Hmmmm, not until I learn the proper way of applying this eyebrow marker :) Questions? Drop them below :) Till my next review, -JEN- |
